Project Description

Alfonso & Harmon Architects transformed this dark and tired Mediterranean house into a sophisticated home perfect for the client to entertain fellow Stanford and visiting faculty. The elegant interior with refined details and use of high-quality materials such as rift-sawn white oak and limestone flooring is full of light. A large bay window was added to the front to make the house more inviting and warm. Cherry built-in bookcases and window seats in the Library provide plenty of book storage and seating. Connecticut bluestone patios on the exterior of the house are covered by arbors to create outdoor “rooms” and integrate the house into the landscape. The interior design was by Ruth Soforenko. The landscape design was by Mary Gordon.
